Today's class on drug abuse was a classic example of that.&lt;br /&gt;Being a pharmacology class, she starts off by giving us a list of prescribed drugs which may be abused, and their effects on the different systems in the body. After getting all the text book examples out of the way the real teaching started.&lt;br /&gt;This ranged from learning the steps in how to &lt;span style="color:#ff0000;"&gt;cut cocaine&lt;/span&gt; (ofcourse after indicating the therapeutic history of coca leaves) and &lt;span style="color:#ff0000;"&gt;make crack rocks&lt;/span&gt;, to quoting a recovering addict who stated that the first time he got high it felt like "a &lt;span style="color:#ff0000;"&gt;thousand&lt;/span&gt; orgasms".&lt;br /&gt;Ofcourse being in Jamaica where one of our major export materials is cannabis, it goes without mention that much of the class was spent discussing the effects of Mary Jane...did you know that the effects of smoking a single joint will only last about 45 minutes, but if ingested (space cake, or bush tea) the effects may remain for a full &lt;span style="color:#ff0000;"&gt;24hrs&lt;/span&gt;?&lt;br /&gt;Heroine and party drugs were also spoken of, but not in any great deal. I mean if it was chopped to death, shot, stabbed, even acid burns then I would have asked why them couldn't behave until after cricket done and gone, or if they couldn't choose someone more low-profiled.&lt;br /&gt;And, not meaning to sound cold but, under the assumption that he was killed by someone closer to home, why couldn't they do it in their own backyard? Why bring the bad publicity to us when we already have enough? type='text'>She lives!!</title><content type='html'>Ok, so I haven't been the most active blogger...lol, I couldn't even say that with a straight face. &lt;br /&gt;Let's just say I am not able to blog as often as I would like.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;For those who haven't spoken with me, or seen me in awhile...I'm alive, though I do think UWI has a not so secret plot to kill me as well as all the other students who have had the poor sense of judgement to choose med as the life-long dream to pursue (thinking back on it I think I maybe should have chosen the secret agent gig... somehow having bullets shot at me seems better for my health).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;As a new year approaches (Chinese new year, and yet another 22nd birthday) I would just like to say thanks to all family and friends who have supported me thru my insanity (and to those who offered to take me to Bellevue - gweh, dem stop give weh the free tin a milo); thanks to all those who helped me de-stress (even when they were playing Devil's advocate and knew I should be studying); thanks to those who avoided me while I was studying so as not to tempt me with glimpses of the alternative life (which involved kalooki, from which I am having severe withdrawal syndromes). Thanks guys, for these things, and soo much more.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;So although it might seem weird and a bit late, in the ordinary western world, - happy new year and all the best. They both resulted in pretty bad damages to the vehicles involved but noone seemed to be injured.&lt;br /&gt;The third accident on the other hand was borne out of pure stupidity. So we're in the turn right lane to go from Trafalgar unto Knutsford. The traffic light to go straight down in the direction of Lady Musgrave was green while we had red.&lt;br /&gt;This guy riding a brand new bike (like he just JUST got it) going straight, picks up speed and attempts to do a wheelie. The bike slipped from beneath him, he lost control and the bike threw him. Most times they provide moments of amusement when difficulty in completing tasks which only require common sense makes you realize that common sense is quite uncommon.&lt;br /&gt;While passing thru Miami International airport recently such a moment witnessed. I still can't fully get over the ridiculousness of the situation but it occured nonetheless. A typical American male, while trying to get thru security check to get to his gate, handed the officer at the door his boarding pass. Ofcourse the officer asked to see his passport, to which the man replied he had checked it in with his baggage.&lt;br /&gt;?!?!?!&lt;br /&gt;Despite his obvious disbelief at the man's ridiculous answer, the security officer pressed on to ask if he had any form of picture ID on him. The man again replied that he had checked it in with his luggage. He had checked in his wallet with all forms of ID with his luggage.&lt;br /&gt;?!?!?!&lt;br /&gt;Was it that this was his first international flight? He was unfamiliar with the procedures at the airport? He had done this by mistake?&lt;br /&gt;I don't know but to make matters worse the guy then turns around and proceeds to cuss at the top of his lungs as if it was the security who was being stupid.&lt;br /&gt;?&lt;br /&gt;Ahh, It's good to be home. Slow moving but  moving none the less.&lt;br /&gt;Coming closer to the end of Russell Heights (where you start to notice an actual slope in the road and everyone around seems to be doing construction cause everywhere you look has sand and gravel on the side) the traffic lightens up and we all start moving at a moderate pace.&lt;br /&gt;2 cars ahead a lady decided to stop to let someone out of their driveway so the car ahead of me stopped and I too stop. A few seconds after I hear skidding and felt a collision. Next thing I know I'm pushed into the car ahead of me and I'm still being pushed despite my foot flooring the brake pedal.&lt;br /&gt;When we come out of our vehicles I realize that the guy behind me pushed me into the guy ahead who got pushed into the lady ahead who had decided to play good samaritan...that's right, 4 cars.&lt;br /&gt;Guy who crashed into me (Nicholas) came over to check how I am, apparently I'm not looking to great. He suggested I lock off my engine, didn't even realize it was still running. Guy I ran into (Peter) came over to check on me too, maybe  I'm really not looking good. Next thing I know the lady at the head of the collision (Nicole) has me seated in the car doing breathing exercises. Tried to protest but decided against it cause all 3 drivers seemed to insist on thinking I don't look well. Deep breath in, deep breath out.&lt;br /&gt;So we get to the exchange of documents part, and I reached to hand Nicholas my papers (by now we all on a first name basis and quite social, would have been a nice group except for the meeting circumstances), and I can't stop my hands from shaking which completely went against the cool, adult composure I was going for (but then again that was probably shot to bits when I was forced to do breathing exercises on the side of the road).&lt;br /&gt;Cutting a long story short (ha...too late) the police came cause by then we had started to make traffic back up. My sis came to check on me and make sure I was ok. The third parties babied me and kept asking if I was ok, would have liked to tell them I  would have been better if I wasn't then but couldn't get the words out; on the plus side they collected all their respective info for me so I guess there is something to say for being babied. We eventually all left afterwhich my bro managed to make it thru the traffic to check on me, but alas, already gone.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Car felt weird. Driving to work I tried to remember if that was how the steering had felt before. There was a new sound coming from the front of my car that had me more concerned. Prayed to God that I would make it to my office to explain to my supervisor, she would let me take the rest of the day, and that I would make it home safely. God grants wishes, I'll tell you that.&lt;br /&gt;So I got the rest of the day, drove home, had my mom and dad fuss over me for a bit, even more so after they saw the car, went to my insurance company, the police and then the doctor who sent me for xrays (yes, I know...my priorities are a bit screwed up but that was the way the traffic took me and considering is ride I begging...)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Tuesday is much less eventful, thank God, but the pain I was feeling in my neck from the day before was ridiculous. The cataflam helped a bit as did the voltaren but the pain felt masked rather than gone. Work dragged for what seemed like forever and when evening came I decided to go home and rest instead of going to pan (sorry guys)&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Wednesday heard I had to go get fitted for a collar during lunch. Protested. Tried convincing my mom and my doctor the pain wasn't all that but they had pretty convincing rebuttals so gave in and got a new accessory to go with my wardrobe. On the plus side I got to introduce mom to Rae's sis.&lt;br /&gt;Returned to work and had heads turning, people who didn't notice me before stopping to ask me a million and one questions, having to tell a shorthanded story (someone rearended me) over and over, along with the phrase "it looks much worse than it really is".&lt;br /&gt;Regarding my Subie which the mechanic checked out on Tuesday, apart from the apparent rear of vehicle - bumper, lights, trunk; right door which can no longer close, roof which bent right above said door; and front of vehicle, bumper, lights, and hood, the chassis is bent so he's thinking of putting it as a write-off :(&lt;br /&gt;So now I have insurance, half a tank of gas, all paperwork up-to-date, a rand new battery and no vehicle. type='text'>Not for your eyes</title><content type='html'>I can't stay silent any longer.&lt;br /&gt;Money spent on my collection wasted.&lt;br /&gt;Getting up early on a saturday morning in vain.&lt;br /&gt;With each movie I get my hopes up that maybe, just maybe they'll get this one right.&lt;br /&gt;Maybe this time the characters will be like they should,&lt;br /&gt;this time the comic-based storyline will be as I remember it.&lt;br /&gt;So many nights wasted with a flashlight under my sheets when I should have been sleeping.&lt;br /&gt;Why do I give my trust so blindly, and why does Stan Lee keep disappointing me?!&lt;br /&gt;Just to recap,&lt;br /&gt;1st movie&lt;br /&gt;Jean too old, or Scott too young...atleast they got the annoying thing down.&lt;br /&gt;Rogue has not a stitch of a southern accent, and she's a student.&lt;br /&gt;Bobby who should be one of the ORIGINAL x-men is a student...a student?!&lt;br /&gt;Halle, I love you girl, but you so ain't storm.&lt;br /&gt;They atleast got prof Xavier right, and Wolverine wasn't too bad so let's give them a chance&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;2nd movie&lt;br /&gt;Definately better than the first, things starting to look up.&lt;br /&gt;It still not Xmen but you can see where them trying.&lt;br /&gt;Rogue still ain't Rogue, and Storm still look like she sporting a dancehall wig but I'll continue to give them a chance&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;3rd movie&lt;br /&gt;Who the hell suggested giving them a chance?!&lt;br /&gt;Where do I begin...&lt;br /&gt;on a positive note, the fight scenes were good and they changed Storm's go-go wig.&lt;br /&gt;Now to the meat of the matter...&lt;br /&gt;What the $%#@&lt;br /&gt;so Jean returns as the Phoenix, who is not the guardian of the crystal ( as us comic/ cartoon people know her) but a split personality created when Xavier tried to control Jean's powers in her childhood.&lt;br /&gt;They killed Scott in the first quarter of the movie... he didn't even get to put up a fight.&lt;br /&gt;They introduced Juggernaut, but him and prof X just pass each other like strangers in the night (hello?! brothers)&lt;br /&gt;Did I mention that they kill Xavier before intermission? oops, did I let that spill?&lt;br /&gt;They introduced Archangel but don't ask me why.&lt;br /&gt;They "cured" mystique before any of the real action started, not to mention Rogue so I don't know what Anna Paquin got paid for.&lt;br /&gt;you catch a glimpse of psylocke near the ending but don't ask me her role.&lt;br /&gt; Speaking of the ending, Magneto gets "cured"; and even though they throwing around these syringes with the mutant antibodies like is free water in the middle of rainy season, Wolverine kills Jean/Phoenix instead of just curing her. I was beside one such friend when his girlfriend of a year calls to tell him she's looking at land for building, and she's about 5 yrs younger than me.&lt;br /&gt;It honestly started freaking me out.The first thought that comes to mind is what are these people doing talking marriage when they have their whole lives ahead of them, then reality hit - they may actually be on the right track/ time line and it's me who's out of it.I'm mid-20s now. Don't know exactly what that means, but for years I've gotten the question on my birthday "so how does it feel to be (insert appropriate age here)?" and my answer has always been "same as when I was (insert previous age here)".Then one day it creeps up on you that you're mid-20s, mid-20s! But I must be a sucker for punishment.&lt;br /&gt;So driving to school yesterday morning listening to Fame. 7:32, news report starts, at the end of which I was literally cussing and shouting in the car.&lt;br /&gt;A corp. went to a police station (not his own). There he drank water out of a cup that was apparently someone elses. He was accosted and assaulted for his offence. He tried explaining to them that he was an officer, at which point they proceded to beat the living crap out of him for impersonating an officer. I wasn't until he was rushed to hospital that they confirmed his story.&lt;br /&gt;End result - he's lost use of both arms and probably won't be able to walk again.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Now&lt;br /&gt;1. is suing them enough??? He even went as far as to keeping tally with his other Trini friend to see how many encounters with beautiful females they would have in a day, which sadly was rarely more than 1, if that lucky.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;At this point now there was some weak attempt by one of the Jamaican guys at the table to disagree, to which this nameless bass player who likes to whine on pans, poles and anything else he can to every type of music possible, basically said that the standard of Jamaican men has been lowered... and something to the effect of ignorance is bliss was chimed in.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;He did state though that he found that the more time he spent in Ja the better the females started to look...he went as far as to calling the effect "a syndrome".&lt;br /&gt;Note, this is not to be confused with getting to know a person who doesn't look  all that great but because they have a wonderful personality they start to look better to you. I can honestly say that coming into the last days of the week when the courses started to pick up momentum I saw several glimpses of how bad it could potentially get, and yet I still have this dreadful feeling that I really have no idea.&lt;br /&gt; Half of the lecturers are boing as expect, but the others surprisingly have a sense of humour. The lecture theatre is freezing...but we have new chairs, which anyone having seen the originals will understand how great that is.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Sharing my classes with 184 people is another experience. Now we've been in a group of a little over 30 people who have disagreements in meeting, and so we know how difficult and noisy it can get trying to decide stuff that most people can agree with. Now try to imagine that about 5 time worse cause there are more opinions and even when people have the same opinion but worded differently they disagree with each other. Oh well, it worth it.&lt;br /&gt;I'm quite proud of a compliment I received on sunday afternoon past from a gentleman and his wife who, both from trinidad, asked if I was from Trinidad because I played and danced as if I were born behind a pan (blush, blush). At moments like that the lost of time, the lack of energy, and the several hours spent at practice (latest being to 4am) were all worth it.&lt;br /&gt;All in all, I'ld have to say that I'ld do it again. Between working on stuff for my family in the days and running to pan in the afternoon until late night, I no longer have a concept of time.&lt;br /&gt;sometimes I swear I'm going a little crazy. Last week in the pan yard the countdown-to-concert chart went from 11 days to 3days...in just one night.&lt;br /&gt;I remember having some shadow of a life before this summer began, or perhaps I only imagined it. (this also works for the moment you finally fall asleep).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;when you leaving the house you have this nagging feeling in the back of your mind as you step away that you didn't lock the door properly or squeeze down the padlock and have to go back and check; or when you're out you have this feeling that you forgot to do something like turn off an appliance.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Just thought I'ld share a few observations. I have others in the back of my mind but put these which I thought most people could relate to. Yes, cuddle parties. &lt;br /&gt;Apparently you pay money to go in a room with a bunch of strangers, lie on a floor and cuddle each other till the end of the session. &lt;br /&gt;Before any of you get any ideas, there are ground rules laid down - no groping, not dry humping, and if you do anything that makes another person uncomfortable and they bring it to your attention then you have to stop. There is a chaperone to enforce said rules, and if you're caught breaking any then you're thrown out. &lt;br /&gt;(PS if you guys get a little "aroused" that's ok, but you are not to act on it.) &lt;br /&gt;Cuddling apparently involves hugging, footrubs, massages, stroking hair, etc. &lt;br /&gt;Apparently it gives you the intimacy usually craved in relationships (predominantly by the female) without the sexual anxiety (...) &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;They also have other unusual parties such as silent parties, in which you're not to say anything or make a sound and all communication is to be done via writing. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;and, I could not dream of leaving out the furry parties. &lt;br /&gt;For those of you who watch CSI, yes they are real; for those of you who don't, a furry party is basically one in which the participants dress and act like the animal they most believe themselves to be (and by animal, humans aren't included in the list). and for the sexually freaky among them, they have fur piles which are like cuddle parties but without the rules. Mind you, all of this happens in costume. &lt;br /&gt;These people also don't limit themselves to parties, they have whole conventions. type='text'>the bat flies again</title><content type='html'>Ok, so apparently the fifth time is the charm.&lt;br /&gt;I won't tell y'all about the movie other than to say it's as close to how I imagined batman should have been portrayed...dark and edgy, like in the comic books.&lt;br /&gt;I think Christian Bale has taken over from Michael Keaton as my all time favourite batman, though I may be biased since starting my appreciation of his work since Christmas eve 1994 (HBO saturday premier of "little women").&lt;br /&gt;Ok, now that I seem a bit obsessive I think I'll stop now. &lt;br type='text'>And in today's news...</title><content type='html'>Today was filled with such interesting and colourful news that I couldn't help but blog about it. I guess I'll give in the order that heard it.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Four guys decided to try and rob a Superplus in Whitehouse, Westmoreland. The police arrived on the scene and a shoot-out proceeds which left the police behind their highly perforated vehicle. Two of the robbers tried to sneak out dressed as Superplus employees, a disguise which the crowd gathered near saw through and proceeded to chop up the two guys. &lt;br /&gt;Having seen what happened to their partners the other two decided to try and wait out the police in the supermarket. The police threw in canisters of tear gas and the two guys tried escaping through the back exit. Whether it was the police who caught them first or the crowd, the outcome was the same... They got chopped up.&lt;br /&gt;Moral of the story...If you're going to steal, don't do it in Whitehouse, &lt;br /&gt;Westmoreland.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A girl found out that her guy was cheating and in her anger she grabbed one of his testicles with her acrylic nails and let's just say he's got one less ball to juggle.&lt;br /&gt;Moral of the story...If you gonna cheat, make sure you're girl don't got fake nails.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;A group of guys tried to rob a tavern in St. Mary. A police officer who was inside at the time challenged to guys at which point they ran. One of the guys, not knowing the layout of the area, jumped out a window which happened to be directly over a precipice. Needless to say he's all broken up over the incident.&lt;br /&gt;Moral of the story... Some took to grinding there feet in the ground like they were bulls about to charge. Thankfully this stopped after an hour and they realised the shutter was not going to spontaneously shoot up without warning and their only chance of getting to see the movie was if they trampled everyone in their way. At one point the cleaning crew came thru the shutter and the sound of the shutter moving up apparently invoked some animalistic insticts in people who tried to scrape under. Go figure. You'ld swear this movie contained the secrets of immortality, but only for the first 25 patrons (all they got was a free ticket each).&lt;br /&gt;Moving on...&lt;br /&gt;with a text book to keep me company (yeah, right) and texts from PJ and Hayden, I sat by the side until Hayden came and he pointed out Rohan, and the three of us sat together.&lt;br /&gt;The guard came over to the shutter, looking quite terrified and started trying to reason with some of the guys pressed up against the metal. By the way, no...it was not crebs acting like this. After realising the gate HAD to go up at 8am for business to start, he pulled on the chain, the shutters came up, and they were off!With a mad dash down the passage and up the stairs the crowd went. Not as many people fell as you'ld expect. I personally expected to see more damage; after all, I got out of my bed at 6am, I deserved some form of amusement.&lt;br /&gt;Gingerly I squeezed between the crowd, until I had reached the middle of the line and kindly informed the person who just reached in behind me that I was holding aspace for 3 other persons...it's good to be a girl.&lt;br /&gt;So finally we reach inside and (skip advertisements and previews...Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Monster in law, and Madagascar look good) the movie starts.&lt;br /&gt;15 minutes in I realise that I'm sitting beside "that guy". You all know him...the guy who has to laugh at all the one liners, and makes the swooshing sound when the light sabers are in motion. Yeah, now you remember, "that guy".&lt;br /&gt;Well I'm not going to spoil the movie by telling y'all how it went (call me when you've watched it), but I will say that Mr. Lucas didn't do too badly with a movie that everyone (who has every the original Star Wars and Episode 2) already knows the plot. It may be considered for my action choice, but then where does that leave "Unleached"? and that movie definately looks like it kicks ass...I'm not sure about storyline, but when Jet Li moves on a screen you're allowed to be dazzled by his motions and not care much about storyline.&lt;br /&gt;I'm definately considering "The Interpreter" for suspense. I've grown to appreciate Sean Penn as an actor since "Mystic River" which, by the way, I recommend.&lt;br /&gt;As much as it grieves me to say because I had an imaginary love affair with Legolas Greenleaf for sooo long and pictured myself as Elizabeth to his Will Turner, I cannot bear to watch Orlando Bloom guard one more great wall. So to "Kingdom of Heaven" I say no, and I ask him to please please please consider doing a non-epic.&lt;br /&gt;"Madagascar" is definately in the lead for animated movie that I want to see (if only because there doesn't seem to be anything else and it looks really cute).&lt;br /&gt;I think I'll be skipping the old shows turn movie genre...so no to "Bewitched" though it looks like Nicole Kidman got that twitch down; and no to Jessica Simpson's Daisy Duke in "Dukes of Hazard"&lt;br /&gt;I'm not so sure about "monster-in-law" but "Kung-fu hustle" is a definate must...Hayden don't forget to link me.&lt;br /&gt;"Batman Begins" looks like they could have finally captured the darkness that is the vigilante nature of Bruce Wayne's alter-ego...Christian Bale is so cool by the way with diversity ranging from "Swing Kids" to "Little Women" to "American Psycho" to "Equilibrium". I look forward to seeing him as Batman vs Ken Watanabe's Ghul.&lt;br /&gt;I'll also be skipping the slew of horrors...which by the way seems to be a trend for 2005,&lt;br /&gt;why???&lt;br /&gt;Ofcourse it's understood that I'll be watching "Episode III", not only for continuity but because I get to see Chewy again (Yes K, my reasons for going to watch movies can be rather skewd).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There are several that I'm not mentioning now, but they'll come in later posts (when things to blog about become waning)&lt;br /&gt;If there are any movies that you recommend that I haven't mentioned, or if there's any movie that I've dismissed that you think I should reconsider then please respond. Sorry it's a bit long, but those who know it know it's worth it.&lt;br /&gt;I hope it finds y'all in good spirits...&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;"Wear sunscreen.&lt;br /&gt;If I could offer you one tip for the future, sunscreen would be it.&lt;br /&gt;The long-term benefit of sunscreen has been proven by scientists, whereas the rest of my advice has no basis more reliable than my own meadering experience.&lt;br /&gt;I will dispence this advice now.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Enjoy the power and beauty of your youth. Oh never mind. you'll never understand the power and beauty of your youth until they have faded. But trust me, in 20 years you'll look back at photos of yourself and recall in a way you can't grasp now how much possibility lay before you and how fabulous you really looked. You are not as fat as you imagine.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Don't worry about the future. Or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubble gum. The real troubles in your life are apt to be things that never crossed your worried mind, the kind that blindside you at 4p.m on some idle Tuesday.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Do one thing everyday that scares you.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Sing.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Don't be reckless with other people's hearts. Don't put up with people who are reckless with yours.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Floss.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Don't waste your time on jealousy. Sometimes you're ahead, sometimes you're behind. The race is long and,in the end, it's only with yourself.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Remember compliments you receive, forget the insults. If you succeed in doing this, tell me how.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Keep your old love letters. Throw away your old bank statements.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Stretch.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Don't feel guilty if you don't know what you want to do with your life. The most interesting people I know didn't know at 22 what they wanted to do with their lives. Some of the most interesting 40-year-ols I know still don't.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Get plenty of Calcium. Be kind to your knees, you'll miss them when they're gone.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Maybe you'll marry, maybe you won't. Maybe you'll have children, maybe you won't.&lt;br /&gt;Maybe you'll be divorced at 40. Maybe you'll dance the funky chicken at your 75th wedding anniversary.&lt;br /&gt;Whatever you do, don't congratulate your self too much, or berate yourself either. Your choices are half-chance, so are everybody else's.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Enjoy your body. Use it every way you can. Don't be afraid of it or what other people think of it. It's the greatest instrument you'll ever own.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Dance, even if you have nowhere to do it but your living room.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Read the directions, even if you don't follow them.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Do not read beauty magazines. They will only make you feel ugly.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Get to know your parents. You never know when they'll be gone for good. Be nice to your siblings. They're your best link to your past, and the people most likely to stick with you in the future.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Understand that friends come and go, but with a precious few you should hold on. Work hard to bridge the gaps in geography and lifestyle, because the older you get, the more you need the people who knew you when you were young.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Liive in New York once but leave before it makes you hard.&lt;br /&gt;Live in Northern California once but leave before it makes you soft. Travel.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Accept certain inalienable truths: Prices will rise; politicians will philander. You too will get old. And when you do you'll fantasize that when you were young prices were reasonable, poiticians were noble and children respected their elders.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Respect your elders.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Don't expect anyone else to support you. Maybe you'll have a trust fund. Maybe you'll have a wealthy spouse. You never know when either one might run out.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Don't mess to much with your hair, or by the time you're 40 it will look 85.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Be careful of whose advice you buy, but be patient with those who supply it. D, I found your post interesing, and funny no end but I'm sorry that you seem to have so much to relate to this stereotypical "nice guy" on which you based your syndrome.&lt;br /&gt;The truth is guys, you can make up as many lists as you want to to deal with this "syndrome" but if at the end of the day you're still pretending to be something you're not, you're right back at square one.&lt;br /&gt;"To thine own self be true"...and really, what would you have to lose. Worse case scenario, the girl that you're interested in doesn't like the real you...then she ain't the right one for you. Atleast when you're yourself you both know what you're getting into and you can both save yourselves the awkwardness before someone gets hurt in the end (cause no matter how great an actor you are, noone can keep up the pretense forever).&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;And guess whatelse guys, males aren't the only ones who suffer from this "nice guy syndrome", though y'all seem to suffer from it much longer than we do.In my honest opinion, females just learn from a younger age that life ain't all flowers and candy, and we either have to learn to duck and weave or throw some punches of our own.&lt;br /&gt;Yes, we all have a bitchy streak in us...that would be our punches being thrown.If you all think that society and the media reflects man badly, then what about females. According to society and the media's standards we're all supposed to be either 6ft tall, a size 2 and be able to cook, clean, and make and take care of babies, or 5ft tall, a size 0, feeble, needing a big strong man to protect us, and able to cook, clean and make and take care of babies.&lt;br /&gt;I'm not going to turn this into a male vs. female debate, because in the end neither party wins... but what I want y'all to realise is the seaweed is always greener in somebody else's lake, and no list in cosmo, allure, GQ, or someone's blog can make it better.&lt;br /&gt;If atleast at the end of the day you can say "I was myself", or "I did not comprimise myself or my principles in anyway" or "I was not a pushover for anyone" then you would have that victory to feel proud and happy of.&lt;br /&gt;P.S. I think whoever the maternal figure was in your life that instilled that tiny voice in your head had good reason for doing so, so mute the voice on occasion, don't try to get rid of it.&lt;br /&gt;(The above post is based on my personal experienced, though limited, and those of close and dear friends who too have been hurt by facades and lies. type='text'>Blogging</title><content type='html'>After a bit of reading over the past few days, I've come to realise what blogging is, or atleast from what I've read.&lt;br /&gt;Although a few individuals use it to keep friends and family in touch with what they're doing while a far distant from home,blogging appears to be a medium for persons to be or have their own personal Carrie Bradshaw.&lt;br /&gt;Mind you, (no insult to Sex and the city) some of these messages I've been reading seems far more interesting that anything I've watched on HBO (OK, maybe a little insultive to S&amp;amp;C...but it was they're own fault for those last 2 seasons), and more diverse.&lt;br /&gt;It also seems provides fair ground for a battle which will rage on way past the end of the world as we know it (did anyone else really like that song?!)&lt;br /&gt;I think for now I'll just be using it to voice a few observations, maybe some theories, and who knows whatelse may come my way that I
