the carnival is over...almost

After serveral weeks of my life of recent have been dedicated to concert preparation, I am proud to report that our united efforts have been a great success, finding good reviews in everyone whom I've spoken to, famailiar and stranger alike.
Unfortunately I find myself feeling as if I'm supposed to be doing something in the evenings, and I am still unable to go to sleep before midnight. Oh well, it worth it.
I'm quite proud of a compliment I received on sunday afternoon past from a gentleman and his wife who, both from trinidad, asked if I was from Trinidad because I played and danced as if I were born behind a pan (blush, blush). At moments like that the lost of time, the lack of energy, and the several hours spent at practice (latest being to 4am) were all worth it.
All in all, I'ld have to say that I'ld do it again. This concert season was actually fun and a great success with the newspaper critics, building friendships and ahmmm...increasing tolerance.
Although the end of it is uncertain right now (keep a weathered eye on the sunday horizon) now is time to get back to life outside of pan.

day? night? huh?

The date on my last post reads July, yet I can't remember it being that long ago.
The days all seem to be merging. Between working on stuff for my family in the days and running to pan in the afternoon until late night, I no longer have a concept of time.
sometimes I swear I'm going a little crazy. Last week in the pan yard the countdown-to-concert chart went from 11 days to 3days...in just one night.
I remember having some shadow of a life before this summer began, or perhaps I only imagined it. The scary thing is that it's been so long that I'm really starting to believe that I did imagine it.
